Ahh, branding shoots. You never quite know where they’ll take you, but one thing’s for sure: when there’s a teacup in hand and some gorgeously cosy knits involved, you know it’s going to be a good one! Let me introduce you to Debbie from McWild, the absolute loveliest human who knits the kind of hats, scarves, and mittens that make you want to book a winter holiday just for an excuse to wear them. Debbie’s knitting journey started with her mum, who taught her the ropes (or should I say yarns?) many moons ago. What began as a comforting, creative hobby has grown into a small business full of warmth—literally and figuratively. Now, Debbie isn’t the biggest fan of having her photo taken. (Let’s be honest, who really loves posing for the camera?) So when she booked in for a branding shoot, she was understandably a bit unsure. But here’s the thing about branding shoots with me: we don’t do awkward poses or forced smiles. We have a chat, a laugh, and, in Debbie’s case, a lovely cup of tea. And honestly? She absolutely smashed it. We got some cracking headshots that show her exactly as she is—warm, genuine, and wonderfully creative. The Little Things That Matter Most When I plan a branding session, I always like to make sure we capture the little personal touches. Because, let’s face it, your business isn’t just about what you sell—it’s about you. With Debbie, that meant including some of the special items that tell her story: • Her mum’s ring—a nod to the woman who taught her to knit. • A bracelet gifted by her family, representing all the love and support behind her business. • And, of course, a cup of tea, because if you know Debbie, you know there’s always a brew nearby. Oh, and let’s not forget the scarf. This wasn’t just any scarf. It was the scarf—the one that sparked the whole McWild journey. Seeing Debbie wear it with pride, laughing away while we captured her magic, was just the best. Why These Personal Touches Matter
Branding photos aren’t just for your website or Instagram—they’re there to tell your story. Customers love getting a glimpse of the person behind the brand. And let’s be honest, when they see Debbie’s smile and that ever-present teacup, they’ll feel like they know her before they’ve even hit “add to cart.” So, if you’ve ever thought about booking a branding shoot but felt a bit like Debbie—unsure, nervous, maybe even dreading it—just remember: you don’t need to be a model. You just need to show up as you. Bring your favourite mug, wear that special scarf, or show off the bracelet that reminds you why you started. We’ll do the rest. Debbie did, and look how beautifully it turned out. Plus, now she’s got a stash of gorgeous photos that capture exactly what McWild is all about: warmth, creativity, and a whole lot of heart. And if you’re in need of a cosy hat, scarf, or mittens to keep you snug through the colder months? Go check out McWild—you won’t be disappointed. Plus, you’ll know that every stitch was made by Debbie, with love, a laugh, and probably a cup of tea by her side. Check McWild out here! - McWilD — Bio Site

The other day, I had the absolute joy of photographing the fabulous Annemiek at the beautiful Balvenie Castle in Dufftown. Let me tell you, we couldn’t have asked for a better day! The sky was glowing golden, the castle looked straight out of a storybook, and Annemiek? Well, she completely stole the show.
Annemiek is a chef here in Dufftown and a young chef ambassador for Scottish Chefs (how cool is that?). She’s about to launch an exciting new venture, and I was lucky enough to take some headshots for her to use. I mean, if you’re going to have headshots done, why not do them at a castle, right? The light that day was magical. It gave this soft, golden glow that just made her eyes sparkle. And, as if on cue, even the Highland cows grazing in the background decided to show their support. Honestly, it felt like the perfect Scottish postcard moment. We captured a mix of shots—some polished and professional, others more relaxed and fun—because Annemiek’s personality is too big to be boxed into one style. She’s passionate, talented, and full of life, and I wanted the photos to reflect all of that. I couldn’t be more excited for her as she steps into this next chapter. Whatever she’s cooking up (literally), I just know it’s going to be amazing. Here’s to Annemiek and all the golden opportunities ahead! I am doing a competition to win a whole photography package for your wedding in aid of Mikeysline. If I can help in any way to raise awareness of this amazing charity and what they do, I will, and to be able to help fund the charity in any way is even better. This is very close to my heart as lately we lost a family friend and I have also had friends who have struggled mentally at times and I really want them to know that just sometimes its okay to not be okay. Its okay to struggle sometimes, you never know what the next day will bring. Every day is a new day and there is always someone there to help. The winning package will include a whole day photography coverage, from the bride or groom getting ready right through to those special first dances. It will also include a USB with all the edited images. Pre wedding shoot and an online gallery for you to share with friends and family. Tickets are £5 each and all proceeds will be going to Mikeysline and can be purchased through Paypal.me/ceamaraphotography Mikeysline is an amazing charity. Mikeysline was founded in 2015 after there was a tragic number of suicides in the Highlands. Since then they have been supporting people in emotional distress and struggling with their mental health. People struggle on a daily basis with a multitude of difficulties yet only a fraction of people feel able to talk about it. They are here to help change that! No matter what the issue however big or small, they are here to listen and support you. Mikeysline Text Service - 07786207755New to Ceamara is our release of our Smash and Splash Shoots. These shoots are perfect to celebrate a year old birthday! However they are absolutely NOT restricted to that! We can do this with loads of ideas so whether you are celebrating your first birthday or your 40th Birthday this could be the shoot for you! So we are smashing and splashing. So first we are going to get some lovely family/portraiture photos then we are going to get a cake ready for some smashing pictures (see how I did that lol) then we are going to have a milk bath ready, some fun and lots of smiles after some sugar! Finally we splash into the last section of our shoot, that's to wash off all the sugar and milk so we pop you into a bubble bath and let the splashing fun continue until we are all clean and the shoot is finished. As I said this is not confined to Kids as an adult we have options, the most fun being the cake and some prosecco at the beach after a lovely couple or family shoot with a cold but sobering dip in the sea. Bring it on any ideas welcome!
Lets Have Some Fun Morag xxx The Scottish Wedding Awards is one of my favourite nights of the year. Its a brilliant night where all kinds of businesses from the wedding industry come together and celebrate the success of the industry over the last year. The best of the best of the industry are nominated in their categories and excitement is in the air. I was lucky enough this year to be nominated for Wedding Photographer of the year North Region, I was the only nominee from Moray area and that in itself is a huge success! I attended the event with one of my closest friends Becky and I knew we would have a fair rare night. The event night was held in Glasgow a the Double Tree Hilton Hotel and they fair know how to host an event! Creative Oceanic team were brilliant and the night was underway with Gina McKie at the mic I could feel the night was going to be brilliant! I was proud as punch of Moray Businesses, in 2020 there was only 4 of us at the Wedding Awards and this year there was a great 14 of us. The North East of Scotland area between Aberdeen and Inverness did exceptionally well. The night started strong with QS Digital Video taking the prize of Videographer of the Year, Dream Events by Sarah taking Event Decorator of the Year and Paul T took the coveted DJ of the Year to name a few of the winners from this area to steal the show. I was then absolutely delighted to take the Photographer of the Year Award for the North Region. The competition was so high that it was such an honour to be able to accept the award! The competition is first nominated by the public then we have to submit supporting evidence to a judging panel. To win an award in a category with photographers whose work I follow and adore is just a dream come true! I'm still on cloud 9! So all in all it was a fantastic night and I cant wait for next year already! Lastly I have a massive thanks to give, that is to each and every one of my couples that chose me to help celebrate their day by letting me capture the happiest day of their lives. I wouldn't be even in this prestigious category or get to do the job I love if it wasn't for you! I hope that all the memories I capture are looked back at with smiles. After all once the dust has settled sometimes photos are all we have left of the best times of our lives. So massive THANKYOU to you all
